01 About

You shouldn't need local contacts
to book the right table.

Zürich has some of the best restaurants in Europe. Navigating them as a newcomer — without German, without knowing which platform covers which venue, or which Kreis to try first — is harder than it should be.

02 Why we exist

The city doesn't explain itself. We do that part.

Most English-speaking expats end up eating at the same cluster of restaurants: the ones that speak their language, the ones that appeared first in a Google search, or the ones a colleague mentioned in the first week. Not because Zürich's dining scene is limited — it isn't — but because the reservation infrastructure is opaque to anyone who arrived recently.

A significant portion of Zürich's best restaurants require advance booking. Many use local platforms that assume German familiarity. Others fill by word-of-mouth, or rotate through regulars who've held the same Friday booking since 2018. Knowing which Kreis books out weeks in advance, which venues have seasonal menus, which nights produce the most last-minute availability — that's local knowledge that accumulates slowly.

Zurich Dinner compresses that learning curve. One message — WhatsApp or email — and we search real-time availability across the city's booking platforms, filtered by your actual criteria, and return options in plain English in under three minutes.

"Most expats eat at the same five restaurants. Not because Zürich is limited — it isn't. Because the rest requires local knowledge."
03 How we work

How it actually works

  1. Local knowledge first

We maintain a working knowledge of how Zürich's restaurant landscape actually operates: which neighbourhoods are booking-heavy in which season, which venues have fixed seasonal menus, which platforms cover which restaurants. When you ask, the answer is filtered through that context — not a generic web search restated in polite language.

  2. You message, we handle it

Describe the evening in any terms that come naturally: cuisine, neighbourhood, party size, occasion, price range. WhatsApp or email — no form to fill, no filters to set. We check live availability across Zürich's major booking platforms and reply with options you can act on immediately.

  3. No commitment required

Three searches are free every month, no credit card required. If the service becomes part of how you plan evenings in Zürich, a founding membership is CHF 9 per month — locked in permanently when you join during beta. No contracts. No annual plan required.

A working knowledge of the city's table

Zürich's restaurant geography is built around the Kreis system. Kreis 1 holds the grand institutions — Kronenhalle, Rive Gauche, Pavillon — along with the highest density of upscale dining per square metre in the city. Kreis 4 and 5 are where independent kitchens have settled: natural wine bars, Japanese counters, wood-fired Italian. Kreis 8, along the lake, is most relevant in summer; several restaurants operate only between May and September.

Booking windows vary more than in most European cities. Some venues confirm within 24 hours. Others — particularly Michelin-tier — require a week or more and expect a cancellation policy acknowledged in writing. Certain Friday nights in Kreis 1 fill by Tuesday. We know which nights, which venues, and which lead times to expect.
